Well, my babies caught the bug that's been going around and had mommy up ALL night. My poor babies were puking everywhere! When Abigail wasen't getting sick, Sierinity was. I think nearly every surface, including me, in my living room smells of vomit. They were up until about 5 am getting sick, in turn, forcing me to stay awake to make sure my little ones were okay. I'm a worrying mama, and I hate to see my babies sick, so even after they stayed asleep for a while with no troubles, I stayed awake to make sure they didn't puke in the middle of the night and choke on it while I was sleeping. Now, this morning my little one woke up for a bit, but I layed down next to her and got a cat nap on the couch until my oldest woke us both up asking for water. I'm all hyped up on monster energy drinks now and feeling like i too, may get this nasty bug, but the hubby is asleep after trying to stay up with me last night, so he may be sleeping for quite a while leaving me to try my hardest not to pass out due to a caffeine overload and/or get sick because of my lack of sleep. If your toddlers or children of any age have gotten this icky bug, here's a few ways you can get your kids better, and if your not like me, get yourself some rest while theyre sleeping it off
Keep fluids down them so they don't dehydrate. This is a big problem if your little loves are throwing up a lot like mine were. The key is to limit their liquid intake as much as possible until you know what they hold down. 1 teaspoon full of water every 10 minutes is ideal, then gradually move up to bigger doses. Also, if you kids will allow you too, try and give them some pedialyte or Gatorade. Electrolytes are essential in children that are sick. There's no medicine that can cure this tummy ache, so unless your child is in pain or running a fever, don't give them anything that may disrupt the bodies natural healing process, other than tylenol, motren, or ibuprofen. Keep your children in as little clothes as possible and make sure, which you should always do anyways for purposes like this, you keep multiple clean blankets. My kids were so sick, they threw up on all their jammies (I changed my oldest 2 times before I realized she was just going to dirty up every new pair I put on her, so we ended up just keeping her in a diaper, but we did still have to keep switching out her blankets because she wouldn't give much of a warning, and then would cover her blanket in uckyness. If you child is old enough, keep a bowl beside them to throw up in. Abigail would cry and tell me her tummy hurt, and ask for water, so that's when i knew I had to grab the bowl for her. Sierinity would wake up out of the blue and start coughing and then it would happen, so you jst have to be prepared. I kept two blankets, one for her to cover up with and another for her to puke onto since she didn't like the bowl idea. It's a messy job, but that's what you're there for.
Even though i'm covered in throw up and probably smell pretty awful, I know my kids appreciate me being there for them and i'm happy that I have the opportunity to take care of them when they feel sick. They're my world and i would do it all over again. There is a good outcome of my long night, my girls got the rest they needed and hydrated appropriately, so now, they're both snacking on cheetoes and watching a disney movie. They're feeling much better, and as tired as I am, i'll keep pounding these energy drinks and give them both much needed baths and give my house a good scrub down! Until my husband decides to wake up, i'm stuck smelling like vomit, but I can change my clothes, lol. If I can do it, you can do it! Your kids depend on you, and it will make you feel wonderful knowing you made them feel better, whether you had help from your spouse, or did it alone because he can't stand the sight of puke or couldn't handle an all nighter, lol. We were built to raise our kids on little to no sleep, so keep your moodyness in check and take care of those little sicklings <3
Tummmy bugs, smelly houses, and much needed baths,
